Remembrance Day is tomorrow, and you are warmly invited to join us for our Annual Remembrance Parade on Tuesday 11th November at 10:30am, held at the Station Plaza campus.
We’re all taking a break to commemorate and show respect, and to support our Public Services students who are leading this important event.
Remembrance Day is a time to honour and remember all the people who have served, fought, and lost their lives in wars and conflicts around the world. It takes place every year on November 11th, marking the end of the First World War in 1918.
We wear poppies and take part in a two-minute silence to show respect and gratitude to those who gave their lives for our freedom and peace. It’s also a chance to think about how we can work together to build a more peaceful future.
Many of us think that war is something of the past — but unfortunately, conflict still continues around the world today. We say we remember, yet too often we forget the lessons that history has taught us.
It’s important to recognise how easily anger and fear can turn into division, directed at different people or groups. On Remembrance Day, let’s not only honour those who served, but also take time to think critically about what we are told, reflect on the things that make us angry, and choose understanding over hate
