Respectful Relationships Parent Information

More information about how we will be supporting students will be added soon

As part of our commitment to high-quality, age-appropriate relationships education, we are partnering with Talk Consent, a respected organisation that specialises in teaching young people about consent and preventing sexual violence.

What Will Students Learn?

Students will take part in workshops and assemblies that are tailored to their age and experiences. These sessions aim to help them build healthy, respectful relationships and understand the importance of consent in both offline and online settings.

Key Topics Include:

  • Consent in Relationships: Going beyond legal definitions to explore how to ensure all sexual activity is safe, respectful, and positive.

  • Communication & Respect: How to communicate clearly, listen to others, and be attentive to a partner’s needs and boundaries.

  • Online Safety & Sexting: Understanding the law around image-based abuse, why young people might share images, and how to stay safe online.

  • Active Bystander Skills: Empowering students to challenge harmful behaviours like misogyny, stereotypes, and harassment in a safe and confident way.

Why This Matters

These sessions are designed to reflect the real-life experiences of young people and give them the tools to navigate complex situations with confidence and care. Research shows that high-quality sex and relationships education helps keep young people safe and does not encourage early sexual activity.

Tips for Talking with Your Teen About Consent

Having open, honest conversations at home can reinforce what students learn at school. Here are some ways to support your child’s understanding:

  • Start with curiosity, not judgment. Ask what they learned in the workshop and how they felt about it.

  • Use everyday situations (TV shows, news stories, social media) to spark discussions about boundaries, respect, and communication.

  • Be clear about your values while also listening to theirs. Teens appreciate when their views are heard.

  • Talk about online safety. Ask how they manage privacy and consent in digital spaces.

  • Normalise asking for and giving consent. Reinforce that it’s okay to say no and important to respect others’ boundaries.

  • Keep the conversation going. These topics aren’t one-time chats—check in regularly and be available when they want to talk.
