Hastings Student Notices
Hi everyone!
As we head into the 2nd week of term, I hope you’re starting to feel settled and getting into the swing of things. In this week’s blog, you’ll find more information about Freshers, volunteering opportunities, exhibitions happening locally, Student Voice and a special gym offer.
There’s lots happening, so have a read and see what catches your interest!
If there’s anything you think would benefit students and you’d like featured in next week’s blog, drop me a line at paige.baker-carroll@escg.ac.uk.
If you’d like to find me at Station Plaza, my desk is in Student Central. At Ore, I like to be out in the open, so you’ll see me out and about with my laptop.
I look forward to meeting many of you over the coming weeks!

Don’t miss out! Freshers is a great opportunity to let your hair down, have some fun and get to know other students. We’ve made sure there’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking to socialise, try something new or connect with organisations in the local community.
There’ll be lots of local organisations joining us, including LGBT+ All Welcome, East Sussex Sexual Health, Electric Palace Cinema, Wave Community Bank, DLWP, Talent Accelerator, Stand Up To Racism, the RAF, Bright Foundation and many, many more!
So come along, get involved and see what’s on offer. We hope to see you there!
Volunteer Opportunity: Get Involved with an Underground Museum of Modern Activism
Are you interested in art, culture, activism or progressive social causes? An exciting new pop-up museum is looking for student volunteers to help bring it to life.
Before and After Vaults: An Underground Museum of Modern Activism has just opened in the historic Vaults of the Observer Building, and the organisers are looking for volunteer museum-gallery stewards to help greet visitors and supervise the exhibition space.
This is a great opportunity to get involved with a unique cultural project, meet visitors and gain experience in a gallery and museum environment.
Volunteer shifts:
📅 Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
🕛 12pm–5pm
📍 The Vaults, Observer Building
📆 Available through to October 11th
The role would particularly suit students with an interest in artistic themes, contemporary culture, activism and progressive social issues — especially those who are passionate about both.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, or you’d like to find out more about volunteering, please get in touch with the organisers.
