Two Days Off Coming Up: October INSET Days 🎉
Heads up! Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd October are INSET days. That’s when staff are in training, so there are no timetabled lessons for most students.
Before you make plans, check your timetable and confirm any arrangements with your tutor, just in case your course is different.
Enjoy the break, and we’ll see you back in college afterwards!

Student Governors Election
Just a reminder that you’ve got until Friday to apply to become a Student Governor, so if you’re interested in getting involved, sharing your ideas, and making a difference, make sure you get your application in before the deadline! What does a student Governor do? …
You don’t need any previous governance experience to apply! All you need is to be reliable, curious, and confident in asking questions. The role involves a commitment of around 3–5 hours per month, including attending Board and committee meetings, taking part in strategy days, and doing some reading beforehand. It’s a great opportunity to share your ideas, develop new skills, and help make a difference.

💚 World Mental Health Day 2026: Your Mind Matters
This weekend was World Mental Health Day, which takes place every year on 10 October. It’s a day dedicated to raising awareness of mental health, encouraging open conversations and reminding people that looking after our mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after our physical health.
This year’s theme is “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.” The theme focuses on the importance of listening to people who have experienced mental health difficulties and making sure their voices are heard when decisions are made about the support they need.
For young people, this message is especially important. Between college work, exams, friendships, relationships and the pressure to figure out the future, life can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s not always easy to speak up about how we're feeling, especially when we worry about what others might think.
That’s why it’s so important to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, talking about their feelings and asking for help without fear of being judged.
Remember: you don't have to have everything figured out, and you don't have to go through difficult times alone. Sometimes, listening to a friend, checking in on someone or simply asking, “Are you really okay?” can make more of a difference than you realise.
💚 Need some extra support? You can always visit our Wellbeing Team or open up to one of your tutors if you need someone to talk to.
