Understanding Money, Markets and Risk β Financial Literacy Programme
A new opportunity is being delivered in partnership with the LSEG Foundation and Goldman Sachs through the launch of Understanding Money, Markets and Risk, an applied financial literacy programme for postβ16 students.
The programme is designed to give young people practical experience in making informed financial decisions, helping to bridge the gap between studying financial concepts and applying them in realβworld contexts.
Students take part in handsβon learning by building and managing a Β£100,000 virtual investment portfolio. They simulate trading across FTSE 350 stocks, exchangeβtraded notes and the top 100 ETFs, while analysing historic market data, company news and financial reports. This approach supports learning through realistic market scenarios and decisionβmaking.
The programme is delivered through modular learning on the F4S platform and is supported by short mentor videos explaining key concepts, alongside structured resources, group activities and presentation slides. It is fully curriculumβaligned, PSHEβready and mapped to the Young Enterprise Financial Education Planning Framework.
The flexible, readyβtoβuse modules include builtβin progress tracking and support both independent and collaborative learning, helping students develop confidence, critical thinking and leadership skills. Two delivery windows are currently available, running from 8 to 26 June and from 29 June to 20 July.
There is no cost to take part, and all content is delivered online to ensure ease of implementation. Careers Hubs are encouraged to support schools in their regions to take part.
