Ore Valley Student Notice

As we celebrate Pride Month, we recognise the importance of creating a community where everyone feels seen, valued and respected. Pride is not only a celebration of LGBTQ+ identities and achievements, but also a reminder of the ongoing journey towards equality, understanding and inclusion.

For students, Pride Month is an opportunity to learn from one another, embrace diversity and support classmates in being their authentic selves. As the saying goes, "In a world where you can be anything, be kind." A simple act of kindness or a gesture of support can go a long way.

At a time when many transgender people face increasing challenges and scrutiny, and when misinformation can spread rapidly online, it is more important than ever to think critically, seek reliable information and approach others with empathy and respect. Taking the time to learn, listen and form our own informed opinions helps create a community where everyone feels safe and valued.

As we celebrate Pride this month, it is also important to remember the contributions of transgender people to the LGBTQ+ rights movement. As many advocates have said, there is no LGB without the T.

Understanding Money, Markets and Risk – Financial Literacy Programme

A new opportunity is being delivered in partnership with the LSEG Foundation and Goldman Sachs through the launch of Understanding Money, Markets and Risk, an applied financial literacy programme for post‑16 students. The programme is designed to give young people practical experience in making informed financial decisions, helping to bridge the gap between studying financial concepts and applying them in real‑world contexts.Students take part in hands‑on learning by building and managing a £100,000 virtual investment portfolio. They simulate trading across FTSE 350 stocks, exchange‑traded notes and the top 100 ETFs, while analysing historic market data, company news and financial reports. This approach supports learning through realistic market scenarios and decision‑making. The programme is delivered through modular learning on the F4S platform and is supported by short mentor videos explaining key concepts, alongside structured resources, group activities and presentation slides. It is fully curriculum‑aligned, PSHE‑ready and mapped to the Young Enterprise Financial Education Planning Framework. The flexible, ready‑to‑use modules include built‑in progress tracking and support both independent and collaborative learning, helping students develop confidence, critical thinking and leadership skills. Two delivery windows are currently available, running from 8 to 26 June and from 29 June to 20 July. There is no cost to take part, and all content is delivered online to ensure ease of implementation. Careers Hubs are encouraged to support schools in their regions to take part.To find out more or to register students, contact Kiran Momi at kiran.momi@f4s.org.uk
