NEW VOICES FROM WALES

A short 10-mintue documentary by Lisa Smith. She is a Romany traveller and film-maker and After growing up watching Travellers depicted as fortune tellers and thieves, Lisa is committed to changing this perception.


REMEMBERING THE ROMA HOLOCAUST

An open exhibition titled Remembering the Roma Holocaust will take place at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts on Thursday 5 February, from 1pm to 3pm.

The exhibition, which will be displayed around some Sussex towns later in February, aims to reflect the experiences of Roma and Sinti communities within the broader Holocaust narrative.


TRADES AND CONSTRUCTION ENTERPRISE DAY

The purpose of the event is to support Eastbourne trades-based residents (specifically existing students, apprentices and apprentices that have just finished) with entrepreneurial skills and confidence to consider either self-employment as a viable and rewarding career path, or growth within their current company.

It will take place on Wednesday 11 February, 10am-4pm in Hammond Hall.

There will be several keynote speakers who will cover topics around customer focus and branding, market research and planning, money (pricing, costs, learning about quotes, invoicing & cash flow), social media, sales pitches, and ways to generate business and pitching.

Any time, any day, take 10 minutes to read once a week and get a stamp on your loyalty card from the Library Team.

How it works:

  • Come to the Library to choose from a selection of great books and reading resources.

  • Read for 10 minutes.

  • Collect a TAKE TEN Reward Card from the Library desk. Get a stamp for each week that you read towards a free drink.

    *Maximum of one stamp per week.
