CREATIVE ARTS PRIORITIES

Eastbourne

  • What is going well / Who needs praise?

    • Teaching team have provided. Really positive environment and they offer fantastic teaching skills.

    • Teachers are very helpful and supportive of learning.

    • I am learning lots of new skills and gaining confidence in abilities.

    • Everyone is very friendly and the teachers treat us like people.

    • The work is easy to understand and everyone is kind.

    • Making new friends and continuing to do something that is hands on.

    • The people and the teachers are good.

    What could we do better?

You Said: Classes are very full as there is very limited space within the media classrooms - students are having to sit very close to each other which is really claustrophobic. EV202 is very full and there are not enough computers in EV201.

We Will: Make sure that our room space is utilised as best as possible and offer some workstations with a little more space for those who require this. We will also raise with our facilities and capital projects team to look at investment in more spacious learning environments as part of the capital bids process.

You Said: Apple products are difficult to access at home - Logic can be expensive and this can then impact on how students work on their projects from home.

We Have: Made sure that our facilities are available outside of class time for you to use and can also offer advice and guidance from our technicians office on how to work around some problems when working at home on different DAW’s or setups – please speak to Matt, Sam or Jo about this in the department.

You Said: Enrichment activities - this is hard to find and if it was displayed around the campus this may help. Technology is really good but this has faults as it can go wrong.

We Will: Ask the college to consider how they are promoting their enrichment activities and try to broaden their range. The suggestion of drop ins will be fed back to senior leaders to consider if this is an option.

You Said: Students have segmented and grouped into silos in early stages of the course, it would be good to see more integration and group activities to mix students
