WORK PLACEMENT

HEALTH & SAFETY

What do I need to know about Health & Safety on my WEX placement ?

  • The College has to make sure your chosen employer has the required health and safety and insurance requirements for student placements. All employers must have Employers liability Insurance (ELI) to host a WEX Placement student.

  • This is to assure your safety.

  • Under health and safety law, placement providers (employer) has primary responsibility for the health and safety of the student and manage any significant risks

  • As a work experience student you have a duty to take care of your own health and safety, and that of others who may be affected by your actions.

  • If you have any concerns about your health and safety, raise them with your placement provider or organiser and tell them about any accidents or illness which you think may be work related

  • You must not start your placement until you have written confirmation from the College WEX Team stating that the placement is approved.
