I HAVE SECURED A WORK PLACEMENT

WHAT TO DO NOW?

Once you have you have provisionally secured a work placement with your employer follow the steps:

  • Discuss your Work Placement with your tutor.

  • Submit a Placement Request via Navigate.

    Here is a step-by-step guide on how to submit your requests.

    Before you place your Placement Request, you will need the following information:

    • Company name

    • Full Company Address including postcode

    • Employer Contact Name & telephone number

    • Employer email address

    • Start & end date of work placement

    • Tutor name - Who you have discussed the work placement with

    • What tasks will you be completing on your placement

    • What will your role be & how is the placement relevant to your studies or career path

    • What day/days will you be completing your placement

    • What are the start & finish times you have arranged with your employer (please note placements will need to be completed within College hours ie: 8.30-5.30pm with an 8 hour maximum working day.

    • One month's notice is required for all external placements.

    • The Careers & Employability team will contact your tutor, and employer to discuss logistics, tasks, and due diligence

    • In the unlikely event that your placement is declined, you will be notified by the Careers & Employability team and your Tutor via Navigate

    • Once all checks have been completed you will receive a confirmation email via Navigate.

    IMPORTANT: You can only start your External Work Placement once you have received your confirmation email. If you have any queries, contact your Careers & Employability Sector Lead or Tutor

  • Complete this 'Work Placement Ready' Guide

    IMPORTANT - Please use your college chrome account. 12345@chrome.escg.ac.uk to gain access to the student guide.

  • Complete Skills & Preparation Checklist on your Navigate portal

  • Attend your work placement.

  • Complete your timesheet through the Navigate portal, your employer will be sent an email to authorise your hours and induction.

    Complete daily/weekly journal entries on the Navigate portal.

    This will be done on Navigate.
